Since I moved here in November 2008, I have gotten a lot of favors out of craigslist. I have gotten about 5 full-time job interviews and 1 offer. I also have gotten a few part-time side job interviews. I have found many different odd jobs. I got most of my furniture from there and recently put an add for an photographer for engagement pictures and got 20 proposals.

I also found a few people looking for people to write papers for pay and was able to make a few hundred dollars pretty quick. I find it to be a great marketplace to exchange goods and skills.

Get drunk one night, go to personals and filter for pictures.

Unfortunately it can also be a haven for people to get set up. Maybe it's growing up in this area, but I rarely trust the information they put in ads unless they have pictures or a website to refer to.
