Hello,

I'm visiting with my kids and am wondering if you can point me toward restaurants that are fun for kids in some way.

We'll be staying at Dupont Circle and visiting the Natural History and American History museums.

Thanks,

Alley

Pizzeria Paradiso in Dupont is a winner.

DuPont with kids is a little tough. Maybe though:

Buca di Beppo for family style Italian
Lauriol Plaza for basic Tex-Mex

The foodies hate on both of these place, but they are spacious and the food is plentiful, reasonable and decent at each.

Your kids might like the Shake Shack on Connecticut Ave, south of Dupont (think it's near N Street). Lots of fun.

Also, in case you don't know, the restaurant at the American Indian museum is worth a trip of its own - it's very good.

If your kids are teenagers and have more sophisticated tastes, Bistrot du Coin can be fun:

City Lights of China is a dependably good - if not considered great by the foodies who prefer Rockville for Chinese - place in the Dupont area.

Kids and Lauriol Plaza do not mix. That said, Lauriol's Central American food is far better than its mediocre Tex-Mex attempts.

This is the outstanding cafeteria mentioned above, at the National Museum of the American Indian. Untitled Document That particular museum itself is colorful and educational, but its exhibit space is rather sparsely filled. The U.S. Botanical Gardens (a free, indoor heated greenhouse conservatory) is also nearby.

Firefly is a great family-friendly place and I am a HUGE fan of Sette Osteria.

largely inauthentic AFAICT (bison burgers on buns?) and hardly a bargain - since OP will be in the area, I suppose good enough on some items to justify the prices, but I wouldnt make a trip from DuPont Circle just to eat there.

There's a Panera Bread right at the Circle itself (If I remember correctly) in front of the southern entrance to the Metro Station.
