I moved out of a DC a few months ago, so I am a little out of the loop.

Last I heard, the old convention center was finally poised to break ground in April.

Any news on it? Seems the most exciting DC project in a long time.

I was at an ANC meeting last week where the commission declined to support a valet parking permit that proposed to use the city center parking lot. The reason was that the lot would be under construction in April.

So it looks like they are sticking to the April deadline.

Other nearby projects that came up in the meeting: The CC Mariott is excavating, of course. Progression place (Shaw metro) is having its ground breaking today, despite having started construction a week or two ago. Addison Square (fmr Kelsey Gardens) developers announced they would break ground in the spring with conventional financing. HUD is still backing the O Street market, so hopefully we'll see some more movement there too.

I only believe it when I see it, but people are at least talking about these projects again.

That is exciting. Thanks for the update. I might have to take a trip down there later this year to check out all the new developments.

Yep, slated to begin site excavation in April. Although, as with any largescale development this sie, I'll believe it when the shovels hit the ground.

At least CityCenter won't be as bad as the Convention Center hotel, which took over a decade to get going.

Has anyone been by there lately? I'm curious how far along it's come. Pics would be neat!
