i agree with you. and to be completely honest? That's the problem with DC. I swear to god, I've never seen dudes hate on other dudes the way they do in DC.

I left DC back in 2001, but I grew up there for the first 20 years of my life. everybody hates on everybody. I lived in Charlotte for a while, Seattle, now Denver....I've never seen a city that hates on its own people the way we do in DC, which is sad.

instead of supporting Wale, a rack of folks hate on him for petty stuff.

^ you can't always focus on what negative people think,
because they're never really the point of anything anyway.
meanwhile, wale is out getting paid regardless and being a
role model to some of the future artists in dc, md and va.

^ Your absolutely right......We shouldn't focus on negative people opinions because at the end of the day there opinions don't matter at ALLL...........I was just stating most of the hate comes from D.C. not the D.C. area..........MoCo, PG, and NoVa Support Wale...........The funny thing is a lot of us might not be BIG fans of Wale but never ever hear us call him the worst rapper from the DMV

Well, Wale is not from DC. You're from DC if you went to one of the following schools:

Wilson
Walls
Banneker
Coolidge
Woodson
Dunbar
Cardozo
Eastern
McKinley
Roosevelt
Anacostia
Ballou
Deal
Jefferson
Hobson
...
...
...

Wale went to Quince Orchard. That's way the hell out in Montgomery County. So it's not surprising he would not be embraced by Washingtonians. That's not too different from the many people who will tell you that Kobe Bryant is not from Philly.

You don't get credit for "chillin" some place a lot. I mean, when you tell someone where you're from, the first question you'll usually get is "Oh, where'd you go to high school?" Most people, in my experience, associate their hometown with the place they attended high school. Even if someone says "I grew up all over the place/I was a military brat, etc.," I'll still ask them where they attended high school.

Perhaps that's because high school is really where your identity for pretty much the rest of your life begins to take shape. And that's the "you" many of your lifelong friends will remember. I suppose there's a reason why TV and the movies focus so much on high school (i.e., Breakfast Club, Saved by the Bell, Can't Hardly Wait, Juno, Clueless, Ferris Bueller, Mean Girls, American Pie, etc., etc.)

haha right. DMV is DMV. the internet shrunk the city. i went to banneker on georiga ave but i stayed in silver spring with my mom, near silver spring station (my dad taught at Banneker).

i don't care if you're from MD, DC, or VA. if you've got talent, i'm gonna support you. some folks just can't get with it, and are still stuck in the small minded-ness of the 90s. who cares if Wale is from Mo County....let that man cook. he's out here with Rick Ross and 2 chains, getting money like a mug. let that man do him and support him. so what he's not from ____________ (insert notorious DC intersection here). he reps the entire metro area, and that's good for the city.
