That's funny stuff though, plugging your friends'/your own bands to point out what a rock mecca DC is. Can you name a band who has relocated to DC for a greater chance at success? Doubt that's happened since the early 90s. I have no idea your agenda in trying to make such a ludicrous and demonstrably false point.

Obviously these are not the only two bands. They are just two that came to mind. There are many more:
Best Up and Coming Bands in D.C.: DCist

There is absolutely nothing in the definition of the word "scene" or "creative" that implies the bands need to have reached some level of popularity in order to comprise a scene or be making creative music. Totally obscure bands still comprise a scene. Did Seattle not have a scene before Nirvana, Alice in Chains etc, got mainstream appeal? Yes it did. It was that obscure scene that inspired those bands.

And besides, these bands aren't totally obscure. The fact that you haven't heard of them and think that the only way I would even know about them is through some personal connection shows that you're just not paying attention. These bands have been covered by the local media, such as DCist. They play shows at local venues like the Rock n Roll Hotel.

Stop spending your Saturday nights at home arguing with people on the Internet and go out and see the creativity going on before you say it doesn't exist.

"Void" implies nothing creative is being done here. But as I've already shown, there are people doing creative things here. Who cares if they're not popular? A real music fan cares about the music, not the popularity of it.

I don't need to show that some band has relocated to DC for success because I am not making any kind of claim about the quality of the music scene. I am simply saying, it exists. To say that there is NO ONE doing anything creative is the only claim that is demonstrably false and ludicrous.

Clearly, there are people here making music. Whether or not it's any good is a matter of opinion. But when you say the scene doesn't even exist that's a statement of fact, not opinion, and the facts just aren't on your side.

Doubt it. Baltimore's total harbor/waterfront area is still entirely too large and still developing for the National Harbor to even compete with not too mention the National Harbor just came out a few years ago and even now it still lacks a lot.... its not even a legit harbor either. Canton to Fells Point to Harbor Point to Harbor East to Inner Harbor to Federal Hill to Locust Point to Fort McHenry is a very vast waterfront and NH ain't messin with it. The National Aquarium, MD science center, Ripley's Believe or Not, etc plus Bmore is building a casino by M&T stadium. Also all the water taxi connections both free and paid and the the red line will improve access and connectivity to the waterfront nabes. Like I said its no contest. The casino at NH will be for high rollers only most people aren't gonna be able to go there because the premiums and minimums will be out the roof. NH will be the best thing to ever happen to the DC area in a long time once its fully built out and when, if ever, it gets a metro station.... or at least light rail. But Baltimore's harbor so too much history and cultural ties for NH and the fact that it's connected to Baltimore helps. NH is connected to nothing but highways.

I went there last Friday and was turned off by the $11 for parking. Its a flat rate on the weekends. I think they would be much better off charging by the hour like they do the rest of the week. I also went to Fells Point in Baltimore (I may be wrong though it was near the old brewery) and parking was beyond ample. Steamed crabs were also great!

National Harbor = Where people go to be pretentious and flaunt... basically keepin up with the Jones' vibe.

Baltimore's Harbor = Where people go to just chill, could care less about what others are doing, wearing, driving, etc....

b Magazine Thinks It’s Found 100 Reasons Why Baltimore Is Better Than D.C. - City Desk

I also loved the comment when The Baltimore Sun thought that Baltimore formerly being the Nation's Capital for a brief time before it was Annapolis' turn is suppose to be big points for it. Too bad it wasn't the Capital of the most powerful nation in the history of the world at the time, that title belongs to Washington D.C. Get over it hushpuppies.

And also the part about Sisqo. And? DC gave the world Amerie, Mya, Ginuwine, Tank, Duke Ellington, Chuck Brown, Marvin Gaye, J. Holiday, Raheem DaVaughn, Fugazi, HarDCore Punk, Go-Go, Moombahton, Quiet Storm, Eva Cassidy, Ruth Brown, Toni Braxton, Dave Grohl of Nirvana and The Foo Fighters, Ahmet Ertegun, Elizabeth Cotten, Charlie Byrd, Bo Diddley, Todd Duncan, Thievery Corporation, Roberta Flack, Wale (You bamas don't even have a premier Hip Hop artist yet making noise. Scratch that, your Hip Hop scene hasn't even been making as much noise as it is in DC and the rest of the DMV in general LOL), etc., etc., etc. so what's yall point? And you say that Tupac got his start at an art school in Bmore? Biggie started making noise beyond the NYC when he came down to Diddy's alma mater Howard University to perform some of his underground hits. Oh, and them DC girls be packing and BAD as S#@% You playa-haters know nothin' about that bait, yall better stop lunching Hahaha!

I'm not gonna touch on DC fashion trends because it's going to be a long list and my fingers are starting to get a little tired, so I'll let someone else handle that for me.

I encounter quite the opposite whenever I go down there.

And that's all that Baltimore seems to care about. Bring more and more money to improving an already well-established harbor/downtown area while leaving a very large part of the city literally down in the gutter. Quite sad really and it kinda sucks too. And since Bmore looks up to Philly so much, perhaps you people can borrow and study some of their ways of making your city better functionally, intellectually (pre-collegiate education I mean), and much more enjoyable beyond the downtown/inner harbor area.

And speaking of "could care less", you seem to care so much about this DC VS Baltimore competition that I see it in every one of your posts and your first DC-Bashing/Baltimore-boosting thread a couple of months ago titled "DC is Country". Wonder what happened to that? I guess the mods must've rightfully interpreted it as a troll thread with hardly anything constructive to add to a healthy debate and decided to take it down. If there's anyone with an obsession around here, it's you my friend. I would say that's quite sad too. But all well, what can you do?

If I were to go back in time during the 20th century and look at which city produced more goods and added more GDP to the nation's economy, Baltimore would beat Washington, DC. But sadly, Baltimore fell victim to the globalization trends of reduced bargaining rights for workers and more capital fleeing for cheaper destinations overseas. Factories in Baltimore closed up. Some companies moved their offices to different cities. Real estate values declined and small businesses shuttered. The only thing that grew in Baltimore since the 1960s was the amount of poverty.

Comparing a city that has steady revenue from Federal Government spending to a Rust Belt city is like comparing apples to oranges. One city is ascendent because the national government throws billions of tax-payer dollars to local contracting companies. One city is prospering because our weak, spineless Election & Campaigning laws have allowed law firms and advocacy groups to build armies of corporate lobbying staffs at six-figure salaries. The other city is struggling because the national government BASED in Washington, DC has all but ignored the middle and working class people in struggling cities. The other city is suffering because the national government BASED in Washington, DC would rather shower trillions of dollars for Foreign Wars, Surveillance Technologies, Armed Drones and reinforcing a police state here in the United States. Who cares about improving the health care, education and employment/career building for American citizens, right?

If the Pentagon relocates its entire civilian operations to India.

If Congress decides pack up and move all of the Congressional offices to Mexico.

If security clearances never existed and contracting jobs could be doled out to China by the hundreds of thousands.

THEN I could see a fair fight between Baltimore and Washington, DC.
