We are going to be moving out of DC within the next 18 months (retiring) and moving across country. It's still early, but we are starting to plan the move. We would like to sell most of the furniture in our rented 2 bedroom condo rather than pay to have it moved. I know there are places that accept donated furniture, but does anyone know of a business or individual that buys or auctions used furniture? Thanks.

Not sure about getting outright cash offers, but you might try a consignment shop. Otherwise, Craigslist can be a good place to sell stuff.

Yeah, I've done the Craigslist thing before, but am hoping to find a way to get rid of everything at once.

It really depends on the furniture.

There are "Staging" companies that will buy your furniture to stage houses that's on sale.

You might get some decent money out of them, depends on how good your furniture are.

Someone gave me a good idea for when I make a break for it. Ask your landlord if he is interested in renting out a furnished apartment.
