Where did the former residents of these now-tony neighborhoods end up going?
Mostly here in PG County, as well as some up in Baltimore City/County, Anne Arundel County, downstate Virginia, maybe Delaware, or somewhere further down South like the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida. There's still more than plenty of native DC residents living in The District, just not as much as it was 30 years ago. Neighborhoods like Logan Circle, U Street/Shaw, Navy Yard, Bloomingdale, etc. have been getting pretty "tony" these days. You'll even see plenty of transplants walking the streets of Anacostia, Benning Road, Trinidad, Georgia Avenue, Columbia Heights, Rhode Island Avenue, Chinatown, H Street NE, etc. The City is changing like crazy for better or for worse, however you think of it.
Hip-Hop/Rap didn't even exist 30 years ago
