Older military couple moving from Suburbia,USA to DC to attend NDU at Fort McNair for one year, then move on to the next duty station. Late 40's, no kids, one dog, lots of "stuff" (2300sf), and three vehicles. I read the stickies, but only getting this partially figured out.
I'm having problems nailing down areas and appreciate advice. Reviewing Craigslist is just plain frustrating.
SW Waterfront for quick commute?
Near Navy Yard/Stadium (commutability?)
*Alexandria?
*Arlington?
*can you get to McNair in <30 minutes?
I'd just be happy with a reasonable 2/2 with some sort of porch/balcony and a couple of parking spaces (garage preferred). I figure we'll have to put some things in storage, but 1k sf would be do-able.
I'm not the most public transportation-savvy person ever (this will be a life-style change) but I'm open to using the metro rail. I heard there was a coast guard shuttle that ran from a metro station to NDU, but that is on the chopping block since the coast guard station moved (?).
