Council member Bowser becomes Democratic nominee for D.C. mayor - The Washington Post

I've been following this since I'm looking to make a move. I guess he couldn't overcome the scandal.

Gray turned out to be a decent mayor. Too bad he had to steal the election. I think Bowser will be okay

The interesting thing about the election is the fact you can literally track the movement of gentrification with it. I think this is the end of the political power of old dc and wards 7/8 in this city as well.
The ground has shifted in DC considerably more than people realize.

LOL, what are you talking about? I'm a Bowser supporter, but anyone who thinks this is a change of direction for the district is dreaming. Bowser will not be a mayor who changes a lot of stuff.

I'm really worried about what this will mean for the D.C. United stadium deal.

Yes.

Catania will get Wards 1, 2, 3, 6. He might pull in some numbers from other Wards as we'll.

The LGBT and yuppie community will give him a lot of support.

Bowser leads Catania by more than 30 points in the polls - 56% to 23% among registered voters (3/25 WaPo poll). Catania was dead-even with Gray, and I think a Gray victory in the primary was his best pathway to the Mayor's office. If the election were held today, Catania would not have a shot.

A lot can happen between now and November, but Catania might need more than a lot to happen.

Bowser is pro development. That is great for DC.
