Looking for a good restaurant/lounge in the D.C. area to celebrate a birthday for a woman?

Prices: should not be to hard on the pockets

Any/All suggestions are welcomed

Been to Jaleo? 7th & E, NW. Pleasant, easy-going vibe. Scrumptious small plates. Really nice white sangria. You can let it get expensive by trying lots of stuff, but it's still easy to keep things reasonable.

You probably need to be a bit more specific than not too hard on the pocket. Plus, casual or fine dining, number in party, night of the week, city or burbs etc.etc. Lots of good restaurants. Ethnic restaurants often provide the best food value, but can just as often be lacking in other areas like atmosphere, comfort etc. and rarely have a good wine/drinks selection.

You need to be more specific than the DC Area...The "DC Area" is ginormous.

Having said that, you will probably get your best bang for your buck downtown in places like Penn Quarter, Chinatown, and near Union Station/Capitol Hill. I have found those areas usually have the best happy hours.

Anything less than $35.00 a plate entrée to be specific. Size of party no bigger than 3-4 ppl. D.C. Area including Maryland, Virginia, D.C. don't matter. Any more specific spots that you tried (Southern, Cajun cuisine would be good, It would be on a Tuesday for a birthday) that have a vibrant atmosphere but also very nice. Traveling from NYC.

The best suburban locations are Bethesda in Md, & Arlington in Va, but DC is best overall.

$35 an entree is getting into fine dining territory. It will at least get you in the door at most of the best restaurants, and with a few exceptions they'll all have 1-2 entrees below $35, even if some/most are above.
The following, all in DC, are good but different. Brasserie Beck, Central, Corduroy, (plus little sister Baby Wale next door), Rasika, Zaytinya, The Source, Vidalia, Bistro Bis. DC has lots of steakhouses. Charlie Palmer still the best in my view. With the exceptions of Palmer & Source, all are locally owned.
Lots of new small hip places on 14th st.

Avoid Georgetown and the Dupont Circle area generally.

Georgia Brown's calls itself southern and they do a pretty fair job of it. It's on 15th Street NW on the west side of McPherson Square, half a block north of the Metro station.

Rasika and Zaytinya get my vote. I love Zaytinya because you can sample several different dishes and the price is not to high, but do love Rasika too. Best Indian food I've had.

Umm why not try Yelp? This is too much of a broad question.
