Can you recommend areas to live around NBM? We will be moving temp. to DC for temp assign. We have 3 kids (homeschooled) and want to be near dh's ofc - near NBM. I've looked throught these forums a little (and have found lots of good info.) but can't spend too much time b/c I do have 3 kids to homeschool. I'd like specifics about Penn Quarter, Chinatown, Capitol Hill, etc.

Capitol Hill is a bit more residential than Penn Quarter and Chinatown. The latter two are more 'urban' environments predominantly with condos (in fact, you'll have a rough time finding a > 3 br place there). DC's attempt to be like NY.

Capitol Hill, Eastern Market might be something you should consider. Probably more families there.

You're going to pay a bit though for all those neighborhoods.

<PenguinSix> is about right. Penn Quarter is more condo's...Capitol Hill and Eastern Market are more rowhouses, more trees, more parks, more families. Logan Circle might be another area to think about. None of these places is cheap, and there will not be a lot of 3 BR places available...
