So, I've been contemplating moving from LA. There are some other cities along with DC I'm interested in. For some reason, I've just always liked it there. I visited once and loved the architecture and scenery. I know the traffic and prices won't be better in DC, but change is good sometimes.

I'm wondering, what are some of the nicer areas where I could get either 3/2 a SFR or a brownstone/townhome dealio 3/2 thing for under 1 million that has good schools. Being in a lively area with lots of restaurants would be a plus.

After doing some research, it seems as though western areas get more snow than eastern areas. Is that accurate? Snow won't bother me, but I'm just curious.

Any help would be appreciated, including suggestions on nearby suburbs, though I think I would enjoy actual DC more.

Thank you.

Within the city, the Chevy Chase neighborhood has pretty good schools and very nice single family homes. I pulled some listings to give you an idea.

Outside the city, Old Town Alexandria has a very cool waterfront, vibrant atmosphere.

When I visited I stayed in Georgetown. Is that area very expensive? Like, too much so for me?
