I think a better idea would be closing early on Sunday nights and opening later on weekend mornings. Also, Metro should pick several days a year to close. It does not need to be open all 365 days a year. It should close on certain days for maintenance every year.

I think most riders would prefer having amazing service year round with a few days off rather than 365 days of "ok" service.

But yes.. permanently closing at midnight on Friday and Saturday night is absurd. He better not do it.
I agree or at least maybe do a compromise. Maybe close at 1am or 2am & open an hour later in the morning. Also closing an hour early on Sunday. I just don't want the changea to hurt nightlife in the city & also put a lot of drunks on the roads.

Having one or two major shutdowns once a year could also work for ongoing maintenance.

Metro needs to poach the management out of London because they are clearly way more competent.
In Europe they actually believe in investing in their infrastructure. It is ashame we can't do the same in this country. I would love to have something like the London Tube or Paris Metro along with high speed rail here.

Time to maintain the system was never Metro's problem. It was $$$ and competence. When the system was brand new.. all they had to do was maintain it and it would still run like new today. But the morons running it and the cheapskate "pro-private industry" politicians did not allow for that.

In "Merica" no one wants to pay taxes.. yet they want everything to run efficiently. You can't bleed the Government agencies responsible for maintaining our roads, rails and infrastructure.. then cry about "inefficiency" when these systems fail. The biggest problem with this country is everyone wants something for nothing. And this goes for Liberals AND Conservatives.

I generally agree we dont invest enough in transit but it took Carol Glover's death for Metro to realize it had invorrectly installing track equipment 4 years and $4 billion into the "rebuilding" program. You cant just bury your head in the sand and ignore these competency issues.
