Looking for Some suggestions for temporary housing for a Georgetown university student. He’s a senior with a 3.9 GPA looking mostly for September October November December. Georgetown recently changed who they’re giving housing to on campus and we are without a place to live. He has an internship in DC and will be doing virtual classes. We are from Michigan I’m not familiar with where to look for off-campus housing for students that is also close to the metro. Suggestions of neighborhoods or air B and B areas would be greatly appreciated. Any guidance would be great at this time. Thank you in advance. Carolyn
So my son is at American University which has no graduate student housing at all.
I looked at craigslist, but many apartment were fraudulent listings.
I would bet Georgetown has many facebook pages and one of them is just for student housing.
Much depends on where his internship is located. Good and safe metro stops and neighborhoods are Tenleytown, Friendship Heights, Van Ness, Cleveland Park.
What a time to look for housing between the pandemic and riots in Washington. After all the money you sent to Georgetown for three years, you would think could accommodate your son!
Glover Park and Burleith are very popular neighborhoods for Georgetown students. You might be able to find a group housing/roommate situation there. It's a little cheaper than living in the Georgetown neighborhood, but still easily walkable to campus. Try to live closer to Wisconsin Ave for bus service unless you'll have a car.
I’ll start some looking. Appreciate any help out there. Yes it is a tough situation . Yes Georgetown has not been very helpful or supportive at present . My impression of them has definitely declined. Carolyn

Your son is a top student at a top university and (presumably) has lived in DC for three years now. Why aren't you asking him where to look? Better yet, why is he not leading the search himself? Parents need to let their fully capable adult children take responsibility for researching and making simple life decisions.
I went to college halfway across the country from my parents. After 1 year in the dorm, I found all of my own housing after that.
