Basically DC jobs...of all kinds...but moreso the government and government-related types of jobs. Even NGO types, etc. Whatever else.
Are there more telecommuting options? In their job ads, job advancements?
Is it becoming more and more of an option, or just slightly?
Where you are working now...or where you have worked in DC before. What kind of opportunities did you see for this...in-house, in your workplaces?
I'm imagining that first you have to secure the DC job first...work in the office or whatever else for awhile..than work your way into one? Is that basically how they go?
It's coming to the Feds in a big way. I expect in a couple of years a lot more people will be telecommuting. We had a memo passed around earlier this year authorizing us to be able to do it....but that we did not yet have the necessary equpiment to make it practical right now. I am a Management Analyst so I could do a lot of work from home, but would definitely have to come into the office at least a couple of days a week.

You pretty much got it. I can do most of my job from home but they still want me to come to the office. However, I'm hoping that after I pass the one year mark I can start working from home more often. I think allowing people to work from home more often would be better for everyone.

I work from home by request but most people in my office have set days to telework. It is a convenience. Especially when one is on travel. I use my own laptop for telework.
Lots of people telework at my agency. Most managers let their employees telework after being at the agency for a year, but limit it to one day a week...sometimes more if the employee is working on a big project that's easy or probably better to focus on from home, like reviewing grant proposals. I only work from home when I'm working on a big project, but I'm hoping to start doing it regularly
sometime soon.
Telework is big in the Federal government. There's a big push right now to get most agencies on some kind of telework system. I personally telework around 20-25% of the time, and it's when I do the bulk of my work (and surf C-D on the side...). Not just from my home, but from many locations throughout the area. Face-to-face interaction, however, is still an important part of the job. If I have a meeting I try to attend in person since I find it difficult to focus on call-in lines for complex issues, and lots of communication is 'non-verbal'
