So I will be moving to DC this coming summer and I will be making around 50k. I will be working next to the pentagon, and just wondering where are some good areas to live, I am 23 and single. Any info that you guys have would be awesome.
You could look in Shirlington, which is a neighborhood in S. Arlington right by the Pentagon. You could also check out Clarendon or Ballston in N. Arlington. It's a little further away, but has a good number of bars, restaurants, stores, and people in their 20s.
You'll probably have to live in a small apartment in a complex or in a sublet apartment (i.e. an apartment in a garage or converted house) if you'll be making $50K. Unfortunately, $50K doesn't get you far in DC. If you are moving from a cheap cost-of-living area, you'll be in for a shock.

Columbia Pike near the Pentagon might have some places in your price range also. There's no nightlife in that immediate area but it's quick bus ride to the Pentagon or Pentagon City Metro.
I would recommend Ballston. Lots to do for a single person, right at the Metro, and probably the nicest and safest of the three. Not that any of them should be considered unsafe.
There are a lot of options. Although you will be working at the Pentagon, DC, MD and VA are right next door. I wouldn't limit myself to only VA.
