Hello Everyone! I know you have seen a million threads like this, and I promise I have looked at several of them, but I wanted to post a question that is more specific to my family's needs. My husband just got a job in DC. It is on L st. off the red line. I am not really familiar with the metro in DC, but I think when I looked, the address of the company is on the red line. My husband and I really do not know anything about DC, so we are hoping you folks can give us some advice. We are from a medium size town in Colorado, Fort Collins, and we would like an area that feels similar. Basically we would love small town feel with a walkable downtown area. We would also prefer not cookie cutter, but understand that we may have to settle for that. Our budget is up to $325,000. For that amount we would love a single family home 3 bedrooms 1.5-2 baths. We have a dog, so we would love a small yard at least. We also have a son, he is less than a year old now, but he will eventually go to school, so we would like good schools. Safety is also important. My husband would love to keep his commute under an hour on public transit. We have no preference about Maryland or Virginia. Thanks!!

I would suggest Rockville, MD. Seems to be the closest match to everything you described and it has two stations that are on the red line.
