Hi! My husband and I are traveling with our two small children and another family with three small children (ages 3-8) in April. I found a twnhse to rent on A Street southeast? Is this in Capitol Hill? If so, is it safe for families? It is located next to a convent........

Thanks!

Hmm....I think that's a little bit of a stretch to be considered "Capitol Hill" (that might technically be "Hill East", or whatever the developers are trying to call it). Capitol Hill itself is very safe, but the boundary line I typically hear is around 13th or 14th Street. East of there it gets more "iffy". It might be ok, but if it were me I'd look for something closer to the Capitol building.

I just looked at the map again, and it is between 15th and 16th on A street SE.......so, I think I'll take your advice....would be different if we weren't traveling with kids.....would like to feel safe at night if we wanted to be out...

It might be different without kids, it really just depends on what you're comfortable with. I know people living near 12th & Independence who love it and haven't had any problems, however they were told that their biggest advantage in terms of safety is that there are always people walking from the Metro. I don't know if the same is true around 15th/16th.

National Harbor is not convenient to anything on DC.
