I have a question for any of you who might know- how bad would a commute from NE DC (24th St., near Rhode Island Ave.) to Old Town Alexandria be (in a car)? Any suggested routes? I currently live in Georgetown and the commute to Alexandria is not bad at all, but I need to move to a cheaper place and you can get a lot more house for a lot less money in NE DC. I know I should be moving to Arlington, but my boyfriend is against moving out of DC this year. Any help would be much appreciated!

You will be going against traffic so it won't be too bad.

The way it looks on the map though...it seems like Rhode Island Ave might have heavy traffic because it looks like a possible route from Maryland to the hill, is this true?

No, you should be okay, just take S. Dakota Ave (East) to 295 South, which will take you straight to Old Town after you cross the bridge into VA. As ahales said, you're going against traffic, so no real worries, other than possible construction.

Rhode Island can definitely get busy, especially when construction is happening. maybe try driving that route according to your schedule and see how it is.

Take Benning Road to 295 south to the WW Bridge. Thirty to forty minute commute easily!
