Ok, I've been looking at houses in Mill Creek and Kirkland, Washington. I just got back from Washington on Sunday night. I currently live in San Diego, where the price of houses are literally going down daily ( and this includes my little abode). Is it my imagination or are the houses in Mill Creek and Kirkland really overpriced? Sellers seem to be asking quite a bit for homes that, how shall I put this, seem to be "average", no fancy upgrades or anything on most of them. ( More upgrades on homes in Mill Creek). I grew up in Seattle, and it seems like the market up there is just as bad as San Diego use to be. Am I wrong?

I think it's very possible that they are overpriced. We recently sold a home in South Snohomish County. There have been homes for sale in our development since last year, but they are so overpriced that they have stayed on the market for months and months, taken off, and put back on. Obviously, these are not sellers who really want to sell and are hoping for the best. We priced ours fairly and had multiple offers the first weekend. What makes matters worse for resale is the number of leftover "brand new homes" that are being offered for less than resale homes. If you are going to buy a newer home and are giving up on having a yard, why buy a resale home for more than a brand new one?
