I need to know if anyone knows the best route to get to Las vegas by car with the least amount of hills for my car to climb? My transmission is touchy and runs great if there arent too many steep hills. I am leaving from Yakima Washington in about a week. Thanks AL

Take I-84 down thorugh Idaho, then take I-15 south to Vegas. There are some good size hills in southern Utah, but they are a gradual climb. Also, if your car desides to crap out on the trip, help is easier to get on the interstate.

mkcurran's point about staying on the interstate is a good one and will be the fastest. However, the slight grades in southern Utah are not that bad compared to going over the Blues in northeastern Oregon ...Cabbage Hill/Deadman Pass is quite a climb. The interstate switches-back quite a bit but still quite a grade in some places.

However, it's still probably the best route as any other route you choose will take you more miles out of your way plus quite a bit more time and through 2-lane roads through desolate parts of Oregon and Nevada.

How could I forget about Cabbage? Yeah, if you make it through the Blues, the rest is gravy.
