Finally Chelan County PUD is upgrading their fiber optic speeds to a standard of 25 MBPS and optional 100 MBPS for probably another five dollars a month.

It appears that you will also be able to get 1GBPS service after January 1st.

Chelan County broadband is finally catching up to Douglas and Grant County.

In two years, 95% of county residents will have access to the new service, up from 80% today.

It would be great if Chelan County PUD would become a leader in fiber instead of following Douglas and Grant!!

Broadband speeds are great in Central Washington. I have heard rumor that typical broadband service in Douglas County and around Wenachee is fiber to the utility pole, followed by copper to the home. Is this true? Because in Grant County we have (FTH) "fiber to home" and get blazing speeds through most providers!

My set-up is straight fiber into the home in Chelan County.

What I do NOT understand is why anybody in eastern Washington with access to PUD fiber would STILL be connected via Charter, Frontier or some other COPPER company. Those out-of-town phone and cable companies are still living in yesterday.

We have service through Local Tel in Wenatchee and it is great. From tech support for the internet to phone and cable I am really impressed with the service. None of those call centers in god knows where.
