Oops, my math was wrong, I confused liters with deciliters, and I must retract this.
Corrected: In Kellogg in 1983, 50% of kids had >5.4 ug/l lead, three times higher than the nationwide median of 1.5 ug/l. The study was NOT misleading.

Thanks again Rod for all of your help and advice. You really made us feel a lot better about Coeur d'Alene. In fact, we're presently planning a trip to Coeur d'Alene in September to check out the area more seriously.

Try Sandpoit Idaho. Its got a bigger lake then Coeur d'Alene, a ski mountain, and a great downtown. Its about 40min from Coeur d'Alene.

Can't say much about the ground/water quality, but Whitefish, Bigfork and Kalispell, Montana are all excellent lake and mountain towns. Flathead lake, Whitefish Lake, Glacier Nat'l Park, Big Mountain and Lakeside Ski resorts are all right there. Whitefish is my personal fav.
