SILVANA, Wash. -- A Snohomish County man who became the target of a new law got the help he needed to clear mountains of junk off his 5-acre property, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

James Deming had accumulated so much junk on his property in Silvana over the last 40 years that the county said it was an eyesore, and fined the man $100 per day until he cleared the garbage.

Deming was already facing $10,000 in fines early this month.

The 79-year-old man told KIRO earlier this month he had no money to pay the fines and could not physically move the junk on his land.
