Well I've been here for a month, and it's only rained twice. And both of those times were just a light sprinkle that was gone by early afternoon. But summer is the dry season, from what I understand. Still, it doesn't rain every day in the winter, either. I visited here last November, which should be one of the rainiest months, and it only rained for two days of the week I was here. The rest of the time is was sunny and 50-60 degrees.

At least twice a day. It's a flat, ugly, and barren landscape.

Kennewick. The other day it rained for only the second time in about three months. The weather is typically dry. The scenery is sand and sagebrush and basalt.

My daughter was born in the late 80's. We lived in Wenatchee during those drought years.

She was a almost two before see saw rain. We were in Seattle waiting to take the airport shuttle to Sea-Tac. She actually asked what that stuff was falling from the sky. I told her it was rain. That God made it for people that did not have irrigation systems.

Much of Washington state is desert. It really should be called the Everbrown State.

However, much of the population lives in western Washington and it is rainy and green over there. Great place if you like mold!!

Here are pictures of the scenery with ONE hours drive of Wenatchee. http://www.justgetout.net/Wenatchee/pages/page/?pgid=77

Here is a 15 minute video with picture of the landscapes: http://connectingwithnature.org/nature-of-ncw-video/

You can pick your precipitation amount in the state from 8 inches to well over a 100. In eastern Washington most of the precipitation is in the form of snow.

We_tside (generally Portlamd to Vancouver, BC, with some variations.

285 days of overcast
~200 w/ recordable moisture

It takes a long time to drizzle 100+ inches (my annual amount).
We seldom get RAIN (as in SE USA, buckets...
We (PNW) seldom use umbrellas / rain boots

Varies MUCH even on the we_side.

There are several very good reasons why so many more people live in Western WA.

Eastern WA is nice to visit. Keyword "Visit"

Whidbey Island...we haven't had much rain in August..We have lived here about 6 years. It isn't the rain that is abundant..it is the overcast.. Still..very pretty place..and on a sunny day...no place I have ever been is as awesome!

East of Seattle on a plateau at about 600 foot elevation - Normally it only rains 9-10 months of the year, with July, August and part of September dry.

Most of the rain is a very slow misty drizzle. Average is 44" a year which is not a lot considering how many days it rains. The trade-off is that everything is green most of the year, only now the grasses are starting to brown.

Seattle's average is about 37 inches.
