I'm currently a college student that will hopefully be moving to WA in the next few years or so. I just want to know some things about Olympia. I want to know about the entertainment, the job situation, and the housing prices. Colorado springs is really spread out and doesn't really have a lot of entertainment and excitement. Also, you cannot survive without a car. My boyfriend and I are not particularly outdoorsy, but we love rain and we love trees. Is this the place for us?

Well, if you ever hurt for entertainment in Colo Spgs, you have Denver an hour north. Olympia is about the same distance time wise from Seattle, and IMO Seattle is 10x the city entertainment wise than Denver. What kind of entertainment are you looking for?

Right now, Olympia has a lower unemployment rate than Colorado Springs.

Olympia is a bit more expensive housing-wise than the Springs, but home prices aren't outrageous (per Zillow, median sale price is $243K for Olympia, $186K for SPGS).

I'm not sure about the walkability/public transit aspects of Olympia, perhaps others can chime in.

The best way to know for sure if a place is for you is to visit.

Good luck.

One thing to consider...Olympia is the polar opposite of C. Springs politically. It's as liberal as it comes.

Yeah, I meant to mention that. The two are different in just about every way.

Only in certain neighborhoods, and they are more progressives than liberals with this being a state capital. Fort Lewis and McChord, plus all the loggers in the hinterlands make it more diverse politically as you get further from the core.

Colorado Springs is dry and has rocks.
Olympia is rainy and has trees.

Both places have various types of humans going about their business and carrying out their personal agendas.

How you define your happiness depends more upon who you are, than where you are.
