Virginia Mountain Man --

You probably already know this, but Going to the Sun Highway is going to be closed quite a bit this year. Here's a link which will give you the latest info: Going-to-the-Sun Road FAQs - Glacier National Park. I would hate for you to arrive at your most-anticipated portion of the trip to find it closed! Enjoy your trip! I'm envious.

I have lived at Mt Rainier most of my life. Number 1 question is have you seen a real mountain going basically from sea level to top. I am from WA HI and AK. If You truly have seen a mountain not a hill... then I would say Olympics in WA. Mt St Helens is really cool. To see the regenation of life growing again but if you have no apprection for what it really was. No. Oregon coast is more accessible and coast like beach like. Olympics rain forest is amazing to see. Along with you get to see WA coast while doing. But to get to the Olympics you are going to have to go North cascades or Mt Rainier area. or just do freeway. The Olympics would be my choice Mt Rainier second. if again you haven't seen a real mountain. Even the first time (know I say ok) I drove to Alaska I missed Mt Rainier as a real mountain!!! Go the Paridise side to Sunrise and coast trip to Oymplics and then down south
