I'll be moving to Walla Walla in a few months to attend Walla Walla Community College.

I was just wondering--are there many gay people there? Any at all? I'm a 19 year old gay male so I'm curious.

Also, is it frowned upon or not that big of a deal?

Any input would be very helpful.

Thanks!

I'm sure Walla Walla would be much more befitting of a gay lifestyle than Capitol Hill in Seattle.

Pardon my humor, but it probably will answer your question, indirectly..

There is indeed a small gay community in WW. However, WW doesn't really go for such things as gay pride (one of myfriends had his rainbow flag vandalized, for instance). A lesbian friend told me she felt fairly safe in the city but not in the small surrounding towns. The WWCC and Whitman college communities are quite accepting; I can't speak for WWU. I lived in WW for ten years and during that time there were about 3-4 incidents of gay-bashing that I can remember.
