I'm from Marysville WA about 45min away from Seattle. I work in Lynnwood and the commute is getting old through the traffic. My family (wife 2kids)and I are wondering if Lynnwood would be a good place to buy a home and settle closer to work. What do you guys know about Lynnwood? All I know is its where the ALderwood Mall is located. Tell me about apartment rentals, schools, crime, best neighboorhoods, and location to parks. Thanks in advance.

I've lived in Lynnwood for 22 years and like it. Here are some City-Data posts about it:

I'd point over to southern Everett, towards Mill Creek (and MC itself). That's where the schools are better, there's lots of rental homes and it's still close to your work.

South Everett/North Lynnwood is not such an ideal place. Mill Creek would be a better choice but its not commute friendly as there are a lot of bottlenecks. Schools are better. Even Bothell would be a good place.

Lynnwood is not a bad place overall, however with the recent housing crisis, a lot of homes have gone under bringing in new ....normally unwanted people.

We lived in the area between Lynnwood and Bothell and were really happy there. There were great teachers at Hilltop Elementary and Brier Terrace Middle, and it was easy to get around the region - I-5, 405, Bothell-Everett Highway, the ferry. We were 15 minutes from everything. Consider that east area, including Brier, Canyon Park and also west Edmonds (higher priced).

As a rule, the closer you are to 99, the worse it is.
