Hello everyone, my husband and I are moving from Fort Hood, Texas to Fort Lewis, Washington at the end of September and are wondering if anyone has advice on a driving route. We're originally from Colorado Springs, CO so we plan to take a route through there in order stay there one night (unless a safer route comes up). We've drove from Texas to Colorado many times and we usually take I-35 to Dallas, US-287 to Amarillo, US-87 to Raton, and I-25 to Colorado Springs. We will both be towing vehicles and my husband will be driving a 16' moving truck while towing a two axle car trailer. We've towed things over Raton Pass and found it to be fairly easy; however, we'd like to avoid any mountain passes more challenging than that (or any mountain passes all together). We'd also like to avoid traffic as much as possible (we usually drive through Dallas at night to avoid the traffic). Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

You are going to drive through some passes but end of September should not be a problem... can be a real challenge later with bad winter conditions.

You might see some snow but it only becomes a problem in Late November
