I would think that the commute to Seattle from Gig Harbor would be pretty awful.....probably at least 45 mins. don't know for sure. As far as I know there is a Trader Joe's across the bridge from Gig Harbor (about 10-15 mins. away). I wouldn't be surprised if they add a Trader Joe's to Gig Harbor soon....due to the growth of that area and the type of residents.

Yeah, I agree with ness, the commute is awful into Seattle. 45 minutes might be possible at at 3:00 a.m. but especially during the rush hour --if you're commuting during business hours-- it will be substantially longer. It could be pushing two hours one way depending on where in Seattle you're headed.

WOW! That's even worse than I thought. I wouldn't want that commute. Maybe someplace in between might suite their needs more. OR at least something over the bridge....like the Brown's Point area of Tacoma. But that would still be BAD as far as commute.

Well, I think the commute is bad not because of the distance but of the uncertainty of traffic going across the Narrows bridge, going through Tacoma, and then having to fight the traffic on I-5 going into Seattle from the south.

I think the distance from Gig Harbor to downtown Seattle is only about 45-50 miles but the uncertainty of the rush hour traffic is what will make it undesirable.

I had a friend doing the commute from Gig Harbor to Kent and he said it took him about 35-40 minutes usually but sometimes an hour or more......but he would never want to commute farther than Kent from Gig Harbor.

No, don't commute to Seattle from Gig Harbor. Even from Tacoma, it's a royal pain.

It would be nice to have a Whole Foods Market in UP or Gig Harbor. It is a expensive store, but has great food and products.

I agree about whole foods. Although there are other markets now that have jumped on the organic band wagon and offer a lot of good products.
