Hello,

I am a young single professional moving to everett in about a month. You guessed it right...i'm into aerospace and will need to get to the "Boeing freeway" for work.

I have been researching about apartments close to Boeing and i find it scary!!! I can live with bad management, i can live with bad maintenance but what i cannot live with is a crackhead neighbor or car being stolen.

I found 3 apartments at Merrill creek pkwy which is a stones throw from boeing freeway but all three of them have very bad ratings.

1. Greens at merrill creek
2. Hearthstone at merrill creek
3. Millington at merrill creek

Inspite of 900+ rent for these apartments i find it hard to believe that there is hardly any safety. I am looking for a gated community and i am willing to pay 1000$ max for a single bedroom but my priority is safety.

How good or bad is the area just north of boeing freeway? Can anyone recommend an apartment (gated) that is 5 miles or less from boeing freeway and is relatively safe?

I understand that the commute from other suberbs can be horrendous. Having said that, are there any better neighborhoods with about 30 mins drive to south everett?

All your feedbacks are highly appreciated!!!

You might want to try further north like Marysville and drive south. Marysville is about 10 miles north right off I-5.

Mill Creek (although you'll not find a gated community in the price range you're after I'd bet), Lake Stevens (no gated communities here I don't think), or Snohomish maybe. I think Bothell might have some gated apartments off of Bothell Everett Highway, I don't know what they are rated though.

The Greens Of Merrill Creek apartment in Everett, Wa.

I have lived here for about 4 years. Here is how it works. There is only 1 car assigned parking spaces for a two to three bedroom apartment. The other people who reside in the same household are forced to fight for a parking spot in an un numbered space. This is generally enforced by the lousy management telling it's renters to park in an unlit and unsurveillanced area along the back retaining wall on the opposite side of the complex.

This results in vehicles constantly being broken into and stolen. The management does nothing about this problem.Any vehicle that gets a flat tire is towed away at the owners expense. Also, the renters can expect lots of love letters on their doors outlawing their rights ranging from no smoking policies anywhere on the premises, this includes outside of the buildings and threats of if your kids playing outside like skateboarding bike riding etc.

Living here you can also, expect to have to pay another full months rent when moving to another place to live. You can also, expect random inspections of your home in which you will get another love letter for with only a day or two advance warning of the inspection and sometimes they will actually print on the letter they will inspect weather you are home or not.

Living here has forced me to go and get a dog and a rifle to protect my family and my home. So, needless to say they better not try and inspect my home without me being present or they may not like the outcome.

I hope to move out of this hell hole very soon.

The only good thing here is that maintenance does try to get to you in a timely fashion when you put in a work order for something to be fixed.

When looking for an apartment I'd say talk to people who live there first, get to know what the situation really is like.Everybody that I have talked to that live here wished that they would have never moved here and the ones that are able to move back out truly are the lucky ones.

You should try Mukilteo. It's safe compared to Everett.

Thank you for your feedback. A special thanks to BSCALISE for sharing your thoughts on The Greens at Merrill Creek. I'm still looking...i am considering MUkilteo or north Lynnwood. If anyone could actually recommend an apt in the south everett/lynnwood/mill creek/mukilteo that they have lived in and have had a good exp I would appreciate it.

Thank you all and Happy Holidays!!!

Try expanding your search south from Lynnwood to Shoreline. The commute to Boeing from there is 15 to 35 minutes, and you don't have to get on the freeway. I used to live in Lynnwood. It took me 15 minutes to get to work at Boeing, and 20 minutes to get home. While everyone else is backed up on the freeway, you can take a number of back roads home with little traffic.

On the other hand, anywhere north of Everett, you will have to get on I-5, which can be a bear most of the time.

MUKILTEO...southwest of the Boeing plant. ANy other direction you get snagged in traffic. Find somewhere like Harbour Pointe. Someplace between the Mukilteo Speedway and the water is nice.

To be more specific, Anchor Village is a decent complex. Though, like any other apts, it will have some buildings that have better tenants than others! Lived there for 3 yrs, loved it. Was single mom with young child, and we were very comfortable. I had great neighbors who would keep an eye on our place if we were out of town. Nice pool, pretty decent staff. Very convenient location. Some of the fancier looking places in Harbour Pointe had more problems with drugs and stuff. Also, some nice townhouse type apartments just blocks off the Speedway between 92nd and the post office.
