Moving to Deming, Wa. I am retired, and wondering how you keep from boredom in this
small, rural area? Floods? Deep winter snow? How is the bus service to Bellingham, and other
nearby towns?

Wow, someone wanting to move to Deming is rare. They only have about 300 people. I have been through there a few times but only stopped once, for the great log show they have every year. I especially enjoyed the V8 chain saws.
it's only about 14 miles to Bellingham. There is bus service to Bellingham,
thank goodness, because I don't really remember seeing anything fun to do in Deming the rest of the year. They get a little more rain than Seattle and more snow but still only maybe a foot total per year.

There is a small casino in town, Nooksack River Casino. On Wednesdays, they do have 50+ specials both for play and food. And their Seafood buffet is pretty good on Fridays. They used to have a $4.99 buffet on one day of the week ...Mondays? I'll have to look it up. Since Deming is on the way to the Mt. Baker ski resort from Bellingham, many stop there to take advantage of a good smaller casino.

The Nooksack River does flood at times but I really don't recall Deming being flooded out. Maybe those who live in or near the area can chime in on that.

Since its elevation is not that high (200-300 ft.?), it doesn't get a lot of snow, some but not a whole lot. The climate will be similar to Bellingham's

edited to add: The $4.99 buffet is on Thursday, click here
