No. But the views from the deck of the boat and ships coming and going from the locks is awesome anyway. Ray's sits right at the mouth of the Lake WA Ship Canal

Will it be hard to see the Space Needle on a Sunday? I really don't want to spend an hour in line to get up and then the same to get the elevator down. Is this the case or just someone's exaggeration?

If you have lunch or brunch at the Space Needle you get the view and you get priority boarding for the elevators.

The locks in the photo above is located to the left of the map pin, just where the docks end and the trees begin. You can see some straight lines in the water. Unless the weather is really good the Locks may not be that busy, especially in the off season.

Ray's has two menus there. The Boathouse, which is downstairs, more formal. Ray's Cafe is the upstairs bar and deck, less formal and less money.

I usually just go for drinks and appetizers like the Mussells, Calamari, Wings, etc. Their dinners even at the Cafe are not cheap. The food is excellent.

On a personal level I would much rather eat there than at the Space Needle.

A sunset at either the Space Needle observation deck or Ray's is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Eating at the Space Needle is probably not in our budget. Even if it includes the trip up, it's still a dinner cover charge of $35 each. We will have plenty of expenses with gas and ferry rides!!
Is there normally a long line to get up and back down the elevators?
Maybe sunset at Rays Cafe sounds nice. A salad or appetizer. I imagine we'll eat while at Pike Place Market, too. We aren't really 3 meal a day people. LOL

for cheap, enjoyable sunset... I take a ferry inbound to Seattle. (FREE without a vehicle).

Rays would be great, maybe do drinks pre-sunset and HAPPY hour menu at 9pm (hopefully they have that), Which I do in Portland at Jake's and Ringside.

Where do you take an inbound ferry FROM??? Can we do a free RT ferry to catch the sunset? What time is the sunset towards the middle of September?
And, Stealth, by 9:00 we'll be back at the trailer relaxing in our pajamas!!
I was thinking that we'll have to plan our day with a trip back to the trailer (wherever that may be) to let our dog out and feed her etc. So, I guess I need an RV park close to town rather than a campground on the outskirts. Hmmmm.
