Current Boeing employee based in Ridley Park Pa. Married with a daughter. Possibility is high for me to relocate to the seattle area. No typically in the city but places like Everett, Renton, or Puyallup to reside. I understand cost of living is higher, and when it comes to rain and weather it doesnt bother me. Living in Philly gets extreme cold in winters and extreme heat in summer. Anyone have any recommendations for me if I decide to make the jump? What are nice areas with low crime rates and good schools etc? quiet communities are preferred. Can I find a nice place with 3 bedrooms for under 1600?

There are 2 Boeing facilities in the area: one north of Seattle, one just south of Seattle. Which one would you be working in? Everett (west side of town) and nearby Edmonds would be great. Otherwise, maybe Burien, if south of Seattle. All of those have frontage on Puget Sound. Another option, if your work will be south of Seattle, would be West Seattle, which is within an easy commute of Boeing. Wonderful waterfront parks, and shopping areas. A little lower-priced than the rest of Seattle.

This thread is almost four years old - if you want to get a full-spectrum of responses, start your own thread, rather than piggy-backing on an old one.

Where really depends on where at Boeing you'd be working: Boeing Field/E. Marginal Way, Everett/Paine Field, Renton, Auburn. You DON'T want to live in Auburn and work in Everett, or vice versa. Try to nail that down, if possible. 3bd apts for <$1,600 are in short supply: consider raising your budget to $1,750-2,000. For a 3bd house: $2,000-2,500.
