I just wanted to share this. In my years visiting Seattle, and the state of Washington, I have never visited Deception Pass State park until recently. Amazing views, a variety of areas within the park to enjoy. There are different camping sites in the park. Some areas inside the park are busier than other areas. You can fish, hike, sun bathe, swim, or just simply relax. I definitely plan on returning.

I agree, observer, I was born in Seattle, raised in Edmonds, WA, and Deception Pass State Park is gorgeous and possibly my favorite Park in Washington State! I love the bridge and the view from it. Also, just looking at pictures of the bridge itself are beautiful!

I'm lucky enough to live on Whidbey, so this is one of our regular haunts... plus I get the pleasure of driving across twice a day for my commute. Have seen so many beautiful views of the bridge in different weather and light. Just a couple weeks ago saw a bald eagle cruising along just off the handrail on west side of the bridge with a big stick in its claws. Once it got to south side of the bridge it headed up into the trees. Nest repair I'm sure!

Yes, I was fishing the lake there one morning and saw an eagle streak down and grab a fat trout right out of the water. There is a great hiking trail on the other side of the bridge that comes out at Cornet Bay, amazing views from the top.
