looking at the last few pages of this initiative, it appears other things are being snuck in ---- internet sales tax & non return of tax on returned store purchases (price only). I'd love to hear if anyone else reads this the same way.

Politicians count on the voters not reading the bill. Maybe some of them will read a few lines. Most go off of the TV sound bites, or else simply don't have a clue what they are voting for, if it is needed, or how much it should cost.

Why has there not been any publicity of this? If people were aware of it there is no way it would pass. I have read it and can verify the tax o internet sales, and that any seller who refunds a returned item is guilty of a misdemeanor if they refund the sales tax. That's pretty big changes that the people in this state will strongly object to if they find out. Unfortunately, oregon is right, most people will not read it but will vote on emotion thinking the gun parts of the law are going to make all crime go away. Almost makes me wonder if some politician added the tax language in order to kill the gun control?

Some one needs to make up signs.."no on double taxation..no on the 594"
You can count on our vote...
But that is not enough!

what kind of bull**** is this? You have to pay sales tax of something you didn't want or bought by mistake?

This is ridiculous.

I hope you guys have reasonably minded movers and shakers who will educate the public on this. Especially since we can't vote WA here in WI.

Relax, folks. I think you are misreading the initiative (which is admittedly obtuse). The stuff about sales taxes refer to gun sales, not all sales. Read subsection 9 of section 11, almost at the end, and it clearly says the previous subsections on Internet sales, sales taxes and refunds refer to gun dealers and gun sales.
The initiative is about gun sales, nothing else.

I'm more concerned that the background checks don't apply to family members. As if family members are the best judge of whether their close relatives are mentally ill criminals...
