You are not going to be able to find a place to rent with A/C....no one has A/C here. Rarely transplants will put them in their own homes, but I can honestly say I have never met anyone in Seattle with A/C.

I use 2 window units myself (they are actually portable units, unfortunately most windows here slide side to side, and not up and down, which makes installing a window A/C unit difficult). The kind I have look like this:

I will second the no A/C thing. 90% of places don't have it and honestly, you don't need it. Most of the year, it's cool enough with the windows open to not need it. There may be 5-10 days out of the year where an A/C is needed.

Your research showing it not readily available should tell you something.

If you rent an older (vintage) home with a finished basement, it remains cool down there on those three days a year we need AC. I know, my family lives in one, we actually sleep in the basement bedroom those nights.

My house in Lynnwood has A/C although I added it with the use of a heat pump.

My dads house in mill creek came with AC. So the guy who said "nobody has AC" is a bit insane.

Seattlephil. I see a lot of homes. AC does exist in this area (lucky Dad), but it is rare.

Never said its not rare. Just pointing out that saying " no one has AC here" is just stupidity.

Mini-split systems, which are increasingly common in new construction in the Puget Sound area, have both heating and AC capability. Here is a link: Ductless, Mini-Split Heat Pumps | Department of Energy

Sensitive much? It was hyperbole.
