Does anyone have a forcast for this weekend...
I don't want to put on chains nor be stuck in gridlock...
Thank you.

Looking that far ahead in the forcast is difficult to predict for things can change between now and then.

Here's the link to the NWS forcast. Check the NWS site regularly to determine what the forcast is as it gets later in the week:

7-Day Forecast for Latitude 46.67N and Longitude -121.13W

I don't know if you're planning to take I-90 over Snoqualmie or Hwy 12 over White Pass. As you know, Snoqualmie has been shut down several times this season. I don't believe US12 has been shut down at all. However, 12 is a two-lane road in most places. It also can be twisty and slow.

Here's the White Pass Ski area web site.

Here's the WSDOT cams for White Pass and Snoqualmie Pass.

oh, you're welcome, Balco.

I forgot to give you the link to the Manastash cam. If you're taking I-90, you'll have to take I-82 over the Manastash which can also have snow on the road at times. Seldom do they require chains going over the Manastash, however. Well, now that I think of it, you don't HAVE to take I-82, you can take the scenic route through the "canyon."

This afternoon, thursday 07 Feb, for the first time that I've seen all season, White pass is closed because of avalanche danger.

"WSDOT snow removal crews estimate the full closure to last for the remainder of the day due to the massive amounts of snow needing removal."

All I can say is "wow!"

Current weather advisory as of 431 AM PST THU FEB 7 2008:

...as bad as I've seen it all winter.

No, I think you're thinking of Chinook Pass. White Pass is open all winter. There's a ski area up there.

Well, it's now the weekend, Balco. Did you drive down south, across the Columbia River, and up through Satus Pass since all three passes across the mountains are closed until later this afternoon?
