Would anyone know for certain the zoning allowances for parking an RV (no electric or water hook-ups) in a relative's backyard in Snohomish County? We live in King County and don't have the space for parking. We've heard varying opinions about the legality. The vehicle is small by RV standards, no bigger than an SUV.

Thanks in advance!

Contact the zoning department in the area you wish to park, they should be able to direct you to the proper area to answer your question.

Snohomish County is a big place.

Where we are, it would be fine, so long as no one was living in it- however, the legality is going to completely depend on the town/city (and also any possible HOA regulations). I'd start with contacting the local city hall and work from there.

This might help, link at the end. You could also call the county anonymously. I think a lot of it depends on the setting. If there is no water/power and it is in the backyard, you'll probably be okay. If it is a fancy subdivision, you'll probably get turned in. Like mishigas said, Snohomish County is big, huge actually. That bulletin has to do with use, not storage.

I can tell you, with all certainty, that storing an RV on property in our area is perfectly legal. What is not legal is using it as permanent living quarters- which is what that bulletin addresses.

My inclination is to say that the pushback, if any, will come from an HOA, but of course, calling the city hall of the particular area in question is probably a wise place to start.

Just park it on any old street in Seattle, leave it as long as you like. The chances of it getting a ticket/towed are zero. Now if you want to keep the change in the cup holder or your road maps from getting stolen you are out of luck.

Thumbs up Thank you!

That link to the notice was helpful. We received further confirmation that storage of our RV at daughter's house wouldn't be in violation. Thanks again. All the replies were much appreciated.
