When a town in Wyoming wins third place for "Northwest" is seems like a silly contest.

Most of those Best Of lists are next to useless anyway. And the contests are so rigged it isn't funny. One of them in recent times allowed people to vote multiple times, and the city boosters in Port Angeles were asking people to keep voting so their town would "win". No doubt the other cities on the list, which were all very different from each other, did the same.

It isn't comparing apples to apples.

You want whine with your cheese.

Port Angeles was not eligible due to population in this contest.

Maybe the Readers' Choice Travel Awards people couldn't find it or too many people in Forks can't read English.

Nope, I don't care what city of any size made the top of that list. It doesn't matter. It obviously matters a tremendous amount to you, though.

Totally agree. What does "Best" mean anyway? Best tourist trap town? Most liberal town? Best town that we can say "Hey! I've seen that place on TV!" (Talkeetna, AK).

Why would Winthrop make the cut, but Leavenworth not - they are almost carbon copies of each other, other than a slightly different touristy theme? (Disclaimer - I grew up in Winthrop, and I love it there, but it certainly wasn't the 800-or-so permanent residents who got it on the list, so clearly tourism has something to do with it).

These lists are fun to vote for, and to be happy for if your town makes the list, but they are essentially worthless for anything other than entertainment value.

I still say Forks! I mean, it has a Thriftway! And TWO gas station/minimarts! And there might be a couple of those Twilight stores still around! Oh, and yeah, there's Ruby Beach & the Paciic Ocean.
