Looks to me here most folks who moved from FL to WA ended up not regretting it. Getting a positive vibe.

I grew up in the South, but I'm getting ready to go play my first ever league curling game this morning, then tonight I'm going to watch a showing of THX 1138 with a live soundtrack performance with a bunch of people high on legal weed. I didn't do anything nearly so nerdy (and cool) in Florida.

I love it here, but I've wanted to move here since I was 15 and I knew what I was in for weather-wise. It's not for everybody. And even I just booked a flight to Vegas for a weekend so we can thaw out and absorb some sunshine.

Good luck! It's a big move in every way imaginable.

The only other piece of advice if you make the move - make the drive on the way here (as opposed to flying), and take your time during the drive. We took 6 days/5 nights and decided to go up through Montana instead of going through Colorado (nothing against Colorado but we had already been there, done that). Montana is breathtaking. Not to mention, you'll have much less traffic to deal with on that route. Just make sure the gas tank is always at least half full because the next gas station could be a long ways away.
