I think you can get over it regarding your feeling Washington is in ANY way unique regarding it's drug users. Utah has a HUGE problem with not only users but manufacturing of it illegally. they just had a tremendous bust of a meth and synthetic opioid manufacturing place. They bring it up in huge quantities on I-15 daily. Meth users and sufferers are in droves in Utah along with the homeless. So it's by no means THAT huge nor notorious of an issue for Washington in particular. There are a few sections of Salt Lake for example that are known for drug dealing and syringe usage. The mayor in Salt Lake (gay) is organizing new shelters for them, but it's not going to stem the tide of them in the least. I wish you folks luck too, because I was thinking of a relocation far west of Seattle in a hopefully cleaner environment.

Many of you frequent Washington/Seattle posters are constant California bashers, & I'm sick of it. Get over it.

Speedballs are nothing new, nor unique to Washington. John Belushi's cause of death was speedballing, only he could afford cocaine.

And as I stated earlier in this thread, drug use/abuse & all that goes with it, is a national problem, it is everywhere, unfortunately.

I'm just glad I had never heard of a "speedball" before I read this thread. Pretty scary.

It's not just Washington, I saw many tweakers living in Phoenix, that area just attracts a lot of druggies and sociopaths. Sun belt states tend to do that. In Washington and Cali, they get lots of free benefits. That, along with remote areas and a laid back culture would bring them running. Druggie losers are bad in most states, although places like Vermont probably have less of it.

What makes you think Vermont has less of it?
