Hello!

It's Oct right now in the middle of Apple harvest...just wondering WHERE do people go to get great local fruit? Any suggestions of orchards or make shift places to get fresh fruit in the Yakima Valley? Thanks!

Z

All along Highway 97, there are several fruit stands, some more elaborate than others, most are not too far from Yakima.

how many # do you want and for what?

If you want a lot ...Ask at the stands for 'windfall' / culls and the location of farmer direct purchase.

We usually buy a bin or 2 for pressing cider, & applesauce ~$0.50 / #
last yr got 3 bins for cattle feed #0.10/lb. They were fine for cider, but too much work for sauce. (bring a truck or flatbed trailer... or both!)

If pressing your own cider...

3 gal / bushel
42# / bushel
800# / bin ~ 60 gal / bin

All livestock and wildlife Love the pulp... Be careful to meter the feeding. (fermented apple pulp can be hazardous to health)

My cousin’s in laws are farmers and they bring barrels over. You can ask the farms too, as Stealth Rabbit says.
