What I love about Western Washington: Not too cool winters, not too hot summers. The overcast, dark, drizzle I love. Proximity to the coast, the views of the cascades, olympics, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Baker. The ferries with the incredible views.

What I hate: The extreme liberalism, tweakers, the cost of living.

Being surrounded by nature. The snow capped mountains, water galore, clean air, green trees, overgrown ferns and vines, and diverse wildlife everywhere.

The I-5 corridor offers a beautiful drive through Skagit and Whatcom counties.

And a total nightmare from Everett to Olympia especially during rush hour traffic. Wait.. when is not rush hour traffic?

The I-5 Skagit corridor (including the cool little town of LaConner) is a favorite of mine, too.

Depends on where you're going in Asia. Kamchatka is only about half that flying time away, except there's a layover in Anchorage.

Having the placid and scenic waterways of the San Juan Islands and the nearby Inside Passage to sail on. It's heaven! Porpoises, eagles, the occasional whale can be spotted.
