Never heard of it. Is this a comparable bookstore chain? Or is this a mom-and-pop store in Tri-Cities?

Adventures Underground is a mom-and-pop shop, one of a kind in Richland, in part of the Uptown Mall, facing G-Way. https://www.advunderground.com/

Check them out, I think you will be glad you did.

Thanks. I will point my BIL to their website.

I was thinking that we'd really miss the Hasting in Moscow & Lewiston when they went out of business, but to be honest I had completely forgotten about them until this post.

The old Moscow store was recently turned into a Marshall's. I think the Lewiston store is still empty.

I have driven past "Adventures" many a time, but have never stopped in. On your recommendation I visited this afternoon. Nice big book selection, especially novels and their so-called "graphic novels" section. I was looking more for non-fiction which seemed to be less frequent, especially with some of my specific interests like architecture and aviation, almost non-existent. But if you like games, comics, and fiction this seems to be a nice draw.

Is that because in western WA (or Puget Sound region) there are more likely to be separate stores/shops selling old/used books, comics, games, videos/dvds, cds/records, software, etc., with less demand to have one store selling it all?

I don't know. Hasting's is now bankrupt and gone, but your reason is a good one. Let me ask you a question, CrazyDonkey. What is a good CD/DVD store over in the Seattle area these days? I am over on Lake Chelan - we've been here two months now and I've been over to Seattle once so far with many more trips planned.

Burton Cummings of The Guess Who has found a great music store in downtown Los Angeles that is probably the main reason he moved down there from Winnipeg, Manitoba! He just loves it. I would love to know what anyone's thoughts are on a good music store in the entire Seattle metro area.

They do usually have more than a few books on aviation, sort of towards the back of the store. Next to the books on cars. They usually have at least one book on guns and hunting, or fishing, or camping, etc. that comes home with me when I stop in. By all means ask if you are not finding what you want.

I also have had them order books for me, I could just go to Amazon but wanted to give them the business.

Couldn't that be said of any type of one-stop chain store? Like Wal-Mart Supercenter or Costco? I don't think that's the case, because I'm fairly sure that there are a few of those in Western WA.

Or are Western Washingtonians adverse to buying their DVDs and books at the same place, but just fine with buying their toilet paper and boxer shorts at the same place?

PS90 - Wal*Mart does it all basically. I bought 12 pairs of socks for $9.99 there tonight. I bought a tan UW Huskies ballcap for $9.95 with their famous purple writing that says 'W' on the front and 'HUSKIES' on the edge of the bill. I bought 20 heavy duty Kodak AA batteries for $11.00.

And, if I wanted a DVD or a CD I could find them there, too. Besides scads of bakery items, meat and produce, etc. Many people aren't enamored with Wal*Mart's meats I guess.

I saw a cool kayak for sale, too, but couldn't find the price on it. This was all bought at the Chelan Wal*Mart tonight.
