My husband and I are considering buying a home in the Kent Lake Meridian-East Hill or Renton (Shadow Lake) area. Does anyone have any experience or tips on taking public transit into downtown Seattle? I work near Pioneer Square. I am envisioning driving to a park and ride and getting on a bus to Seattle. It sounds like the 157/158 in Kent run some commuter specials. How is parking at the park and rides though (Lake Meridian or Kent Covenant Church are the ones closest to the area I'm thinking of)? Here in Sumner where I live now, the Sounder parking lot fills up absurdly early, but luckily I can walk to the train station. Not sure how the Kent Sounder station parking is, but I imagine it is similar, which is why I'm thinking bus may be the way to go. I'm also guessing the arterials in Kent get pretty busy during rush hour. The less I have to drive the better! Thanks for any tips.

The Kent Station has 996 parking spaces (vs 302 at the Sumner Station). Most P&R's are served by buses that go to the Kent Station, if the Kent Station spaces fill up too early.

Also, look for a carpool or vanpool service that will connect you to the Kent Station.
