I assume you are talking about the I-5 corridor? The rest of the state is not that bad. The problem is a lot of money is spent on Seattle traffic without making it any better and little is spent on the rest of the state. I guess that is the reason democrats keep getting elected in Washington.

But after driving LA's 405 and a lot of toll highways in the east...I think who ever took this poll should have gotten off the couch.

"Bad driving" complaints are a correlate of congestion, pure and simple. Effectively, they amount to, "I want you to move over so I can have a clear path to blast on through!"

If you're going to dump a bunch of rats in a maze, you should expect some pretty awful behavior.

Washington (39) and California (42) are comparable in terms of congestion, despite what another poster here consistently rebuts.

Seattle has always been up at the top for worst cities for driving/commuting, in terms of traffic and bottlenecks, right along with the Bay Area. But as far as the entire State goes, I don't buy the ranking. But YMMV, I suppose.

My experiences have Bay area much worse than Seattle.
And San Diego comparable, though significantly better than Seattle.

I guess no one has ever tried to run you into a ditch, or passed you on the Hood Canal Bridge.

Guess they never drove through Austin for these metrics. When we visited Seattle we thought it was pretty bad, but not that much worse to be honest. Seattle to Olympia reminded us a lot of Austin to San Antonio.

I'm assuming L.A is just filled with land mines and tanks shooting at each other on the freeways, by comparison.

When I was down there I thought the bay area had more traffic, but the drivers were much better than the drivers ed rejects clogging the roads in King County, so the traffic moved better around SFO.

The I5 corridor is bad. I think the drivers themselves are fine really. But I've lived near and driven through Atlanta a number of times and IMHO there is no traffic in the continental U.S. that would come near to being as chaotic and horrible than the traffic AND the drivers in Atlanta, Ga.
I live in Texas now and I can safely say Dallas traffic, at all hours is much worse than anything I witnessed in Oregon or Washington. Houston is pretty bad too.
