One more try. None of that is affected by what hour the clock says.

Farmers don't care, our animals don't care, the hay doesn't care. It only makes a difference to those who live and work by the clock.
Schools get out at certain times; people get off work at certain times. It's nice for someone who has been at work or school all day to have summer evenings for walking, biking, boating, gardening, a horseback ride, - or for cutting hay.

And it will still be light late... I can be happy with keeping it on DST.

No, it won't. It will be very unlikely that businesses will change their hours if DST goes away. So, if DST goes away, there will effectively be one less hour of light after work.

Same with cutting hay - like most people now-a-days, I'm not a full-time farmer - I do those things when I can, i.e. after work, so the clock absolutely DOES matter when I cut hay - I need that extra hour to see out in the field.

I guess I'm not understanding your point.

I'm not understanding why you're talking about summer hours, and DST "going away", while quoting one post and after reading many others that say I'm happy with keeping it on DST. I think all of us can get used to what time it is... pick one. It's the time ~change~ that bothers people.

Umm, well the title post of this thread says "I see that some of our legislators are trying to get rid of daylight saving time in Washington"... So, there's that...

OK - but I am trying to converse with YOU about it, not the headline. Maybe we can agree on something... you know.... compromise!

I’d rather stay on normal time. I’m up at 4:45am anyway.

Either way, though, let’s quit with the change. There is not conclusive evidence it saves energy.

I love Daylight Savings Time because I like the idea of being able to go out for a bike ride at 6pm and not worry about it getting dark outside for at least a couple more hours, I like it when it's still light out until 9pm, I personally wish we can get rid of Standard Time because I hate it when it starts getting dark out right after 4pm.
