I appreciate your rebuttle here, but you managed to leave out my positive thoughts about this area. (They are there unless you have a vague, but not an accurate reading of my post!)

But carry on. I am a native Washingtonian, currently an Eastern WA resident, and I think I can back up my thoughts. But that is all they are, thoughts. And meant to be somewhat humorous, though that is entirely in the opinion of the reader!

Default When in doubt, check it out

Why don't you do some recon, and spend a week here? You can't know how you will cotton up to a new place unless you actually go there.

"Rebuttal" LOL Rebuttle sounds downright kinky.

I will be in NE Washington in a few weeks-- what are the most scenic parts?

Default N.E. Wa, for real?

Northeastern Washington is Okanagon county and Ferry county and Pend Oreille county; it's all forested, desolate and isolated. Is this a fake post, are you serious about NE Wa?

You forgot to include Stevens county -- right in the middle of Ferry & Pend Oreille counties. There's a lot of beauty in NE Washington. And a fair amount of people living there, too, along with tons of wildlife, rivers, lakes & streams. I would consider Okanogan county more central Washington, myself.

Depends on how much time and where exactly you'll be staying or passing through. IMO, it's tough to beat the far northern parts of the Pend Oreille River, up by Metaline Falls, Sullivan Lake, etc. But it's pretty rugged from the Okanogan Valley all the way to the state line. It's largely rough smaller mountain chains running north/south, with rivers cutting through them. Punctuated by the odd (often good sized) lake. Beautiful country. I guess it depends on what you want to do? Drive through it, hike, paddle, etc.

I would too, however some people don't really care about/bother with a "central" Washington. It's just East or West, in which case it's definitely East. Depends on context, I suppose.

Yes. NE WA is Pend Oreille, Stevens, and Ferry Counties. Okanogan is North Central WA.

I think that the people who don't distinguish different parts of Eastern WA are the ones from Western WA. They think that Eastern WA is a large, uncivilized frontier with a few cavemen living in holes here-and-there...

There may be some truth to this. However, I am a born and raised Seattleite, who appreciates the differences in my current home, Eastern Washington.

My original post was done with humor, but sometimes that doesn't translate on sites like this. I was simply offering the traditional Western response to the OP.

Of course, NE WA is beautiful, but at the end of the day it is not a major economic engine in the State.
I guess that could be confused with it not being a lovely, affordable area to live, rural but within range of Spokane. But it does offer all that.
